Southwest Airlines Terminal 4 South Re-gate Project (2018-Present)
Currier & Co. is leading a Design-Build team for Southwest Airline’s Terminal 4 South Re-gate Project at PHX. The project scope includes:
• design and restriping of 8 gates,
• installation of (2) new passenger boarding bridges,
• relocation of (3) existing PBBs,
• installation of (3) new hydrants, and
• deactivation of (3) existing hydrants
During the design phase, Currier was able to utilize their established existing relationships with the AFFC and Swissport to propose and gain acceptance of the use of an alternative means of tying the new hydrant pits into the existing hydrant fuel system, which is not typically utilized at PHX. Currier’s proposed tie-in method utilizing PLIDCO fittings to tie the new hydrant pits into the existing laterals resulted in a reduction of the total number of apron panels affected from 9 to 6, and eliminated the need for a costly hot-tap of the hydrant system main. The result of utilizing this proposed tie-in method is a significant cost saving.
This project is currently in the construction phase and on schedule and budget. Currier continues to support the project by providing construction administration service to Southwest.
